Born in 1950 in England he spent most of his youth in South Africa where his father, a Baptist minister, emigrated to run a missionary society. It was there that he met Alicia, his wife. They have two children, Ross and Ria (who is also a trustee). His elderly mother loves to tell the story of how when Duncan was about seven they were visiting an African township. As they were leaving the area she noticed that he was not wearing his shoes. When she asked him where they were he replied “one of the poor girls didn’t have any shoes so I gave them to her”. For the past 30 years Duncan has run his company Party Superstores which supplies fancy dress and party goods both online and from stores in and around London. From the start Duncan has promised supporters that 100% of all donations will go directly to fund projects and ongoing care for the children. All administration, international travel and fundraising costs are covered by his family and the business.

Dick has known Duncan for nearly 40 years. When the charity was started he offered his support and is HEAL Kids' biggest individual annual donor.
He has been to Burma three times and apart from supporting the projects in general arranged the building of homes for a blind monk and blind nun with their carers.
His special interest is in water and sanitation and he has done much research into how we can economically supply clean water to as many people as possible in Burma.
Dick has wide-ranging business interests in the UK and is now a resident of Hong Kong but spends the majority of his time on his yacht sailing and diving the waters of Asia and Australasia.
